Log sleep with two words: down and up
What is a baby sleep tracker?
A baby sleep tracker records when your baby falls asleep and when she wakes, so her naps and nights are written down instead of half remembered.
In Our Little Two you say "She's down" and later "She's up". The two become one sleep entry with a start, an end and a length.
Two words, one sleep
The problem
Naps begin in a dark room and end with a cry. Nobody checks a clock at either moment, so by evening the day's sleep is a rough guess and the night before is gone entirely.
How it works
- When she drifts off, say "She's down" or tap the Sleep button.
- When she wakes, say "She's up" or tap Sleep again. Whoever is with her can do it.
- The start and the end join into one entry, read back with how long she slept.
- Later, ask "When did she last sleep?" or "How much has she slept today?"
What changes
You end up with a plain record of how she actually slept, written at the moment it happened, that every caregiver can look at the next morning.
What it does not do
A sleep log is a record of what happened. It stays that way on purpose.
- It does not predict her next nap or tell you when she will wake.
- It does not score her sleep or compare her with other babies.
- It does not give sleep-training advice. For questions about her sleep, ask your pediatrician.
How sleep logging works
Down and up, one entry
"She's down" opens the sleep. "She's up" closes it. You never type a start or an end time.
When did she last sleep?
Ask out loud or look at the list. The answer is her most recent sleep, with the time.
How much today?
Ask for today's total and get one number, added up from the entries in her log.
No unlocking at bedtime
On iPhone, use the Action Button or the lock-screen widget so the screen stays dark.
The overnight shift, visible
Whoever slept through the night shift can see every sleep the other person logged, without asking.
Said it too early?
Correct the time by saying so. The fix replaces the old entry and keeps a record of the change.
Questions parents ask
Can someone else say she is up if I put her down?
Yes. The open sleep belongs to her, not to one phone, so whoever is with her when she wakes can close it.
Does it work for night sleep and naps?
Yes. A nap and a night are both one sleep entry with a start and an end.
